Steeplechase: A project with elderly multi ethnic community in Bat Yam, Israel Mix media installation (2013)

A group of elderly people in a community center wanted to teach their grandchildren street games, which the young generation are not familiar with anymore. After discussion, the chosen game was 3 sticks – in which the players needed to jump over the sticks which in turn are put at greater and greater distances from each other. In addition they wanted to tell stories from their past. We combined the two. The six months project ended in an exhibition and a community event in which the grandchildren helped to transcribe their grandparents’ stories into the planks of wood on which the grandparents copied images that related to their stories.
